If only summer could be as nice as the last few days have been! It has finally been nice enough for me to want to pick up my stitching again that I managed to get most of the middle section finished and add a few motifs to the bottom area. I'm dreading filling in the bottom with white, but I am so happy to be near the end I think maybe I won't mind so much.
Here's a close up of the middle. I will also need to do a little backstitching, but nothing too extensive. This would have been perfect to work on in the heat since it is a snowy scene--I hate to think cold weather is only around the corner, but I plan on enjoying the nice, cool fall weather as much as possible.
On the spur of the moment I decided I wanted to start something new and happened to pick up this sampler which I had kitted up ages ago. It is from a Better Homes and Garden Christmas book. I'm using Antique White linen and overdyed floss.
I'm not sure if I am just in a stitching mood or if I like the feel of my materials and the type of designs I'll be stitching, but I think this is going to be a very enjoyable design to work on. The verse is from a German Christmas carol that was translated into English. I've seen this one finished by other stitchers and think it's a very elegant design. I'm hoping I can finish it by Christmas!
Nice progress, Dani! You'll have a finish soon. I stitched Lo How a ROse in memory of my mother-in-law. Her name was Rosemarie and she let me have her book. I really should get it framed. It's a fun stitch. I did it over two though I know Brightneedle always does over one. If I had to stitch such a large piece over one it would become a UFO quickly! Enjoy!

I love "Lo How a Rose" - I had never heard of the Christmas carol until I had seen Vonna's finish, and immediately had to find the book!
You're making great progress on "February".
We are finally having some cooler weather here, too (it was in the 80's today, which was positively delightful after the 100+ temperatures we've had for the past 2 months!)

I just bought that PS February chart.
Lo, A Rose--that BHG book is hard to come by, even from a library. Good job!

Your PS stitch looks great! Fill in is not fun but easy to do while watching a t.v. program or something.
I also have Lo ready to go. I'd like to stitch that one, too. One day....

Nice progress on the PS - love the log cabin and Lincoln connection.
I remember Lo How a Rose...quite a few people were stitching it a few years ago - it's going to make a great project.

Gosh, now I really want to dig up and stitch a wintry PS! I haven't seen Lo a Rose with the bottom angle featured like that before--pretty!

Nancy--I wondered who the designer was. I am also stitching it over two threads--I''m not a very good over one stitcher. It's very pretty and I am enjoying working on it. And I hopefully will finish the PS soon!
Susan--I also had never heard this carol--I wondered where the saying came from and Googled it--the book doesn't really explain anything about it. Glad to hear you are enjoying some nicer weather now, too. It's quite warm here today but the rest of the week will be cooler than average (fine by me actually!).
Trillium--I'm enjoying working on this PS design, but I almost always like her charts! Take a look at Amazon for that book--I looked it up and there are cheap used copies for sale if you can't find it in the library.
Terri--It's nice to have easy parts to work on when watching movies--I do that quite often on the weekend. I've owned Lo the Rose for years, but I suddenly felt the urge to work on it now!
Jeanne--Aren't those cabins great. I loved this design and as it is also my birthday month I had to stitch it. I should look up Lo the Rose and see how others finished it.
Beritbunny--You should have lots of choices with PS--she does loads of great seasonal designs. I think I will have to put my initials and date in that bottom circle!

Could you tell me the name of the BHG book that the pattern "Lo a Rose" is in? Now you got me drooling over it!
It's a good thing though! LOL

Jennifer--Isn't it lovely??!! It is from BHG A Cross Stitch Christmas from 2001--ISBN: 069621363x. If you type that into amazon you can find cheap used copies to order! :)
