Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been stitching a bit, but I haven't had any good progress photos to share. I am almost done working on a little, tiny Valentine's Day project, but I want to do the finishing first before I post a photo. This weekend!! However, you may not know this (I just found out yesterday) that this is National De-Lurking Week (Jan. 8-12) in the blogosphere. So in honor of that I invite you to leave me a comment--just a hello, or any old message (where you're from would be wonderful--I am always curious)! I see from my statistics, that I do get a few visitors, but I don't usually get many comments! I'd love to hear from you! And I promise...a stitching update soon!
I have just discovered Bloglines! Actually I was aware of it before, but I never bothered to check this service out. I am beginning to upload all the links in my blogroll into my new bloglines account (hopefully will get it done this weekend). I hope this will be the solution for keeping up on my needlework blog reading! I have so many now that is is literally a gigantic task to try and read them every day--and I have lately given up even trying due to time constraints. I hope this way I can check into bloglines several times a week and keep up on all the news! They only list the blogs that have been updated (since you last checked), so that you don't have to click into each blog to find and read new posts (and not all bloggers update daily). This should cut down the time it takes to go through the blogroll. And they are all linked together, so you just scroll through the posts. If you decide you want to actually click out to the blog, you can do so to leave a comment or read more posts. Why did I not do this a long time ago??!!
Okay. Here is my first incarnation of a new blog. What do you think so far? I tend to like things fairly simple and maybe even a bit on the minimalistic side, but I do need to spice this up a tad still. Thanks to Nicole for the link to istockphoto. It looks like they have peacock images that can be "bought" to use on websites. Now it is a matter of how to get the image up into my blog. I wish I knew HTML so I could really design my own page, but I am just happy that Typepad offers templates that you can work with. This may not be the final design, but so far I think it is a nice change. I like to show photos of my work, and I am sorry that lately I have had nothing to share. Soon, I hope. A little update on my Valentine's project--still NOT finished. I am now working on finishing it. It requires hand sewing it together and beads...I have one side done. I will definitely finish tonight and be back to my own work tomorrow. This one seems to have taken me *forever* to finish!!! I can't wait to share a photo!!
I have been working out the changes I want to make to my blog, and one thing I really would love to do is enhance my banner with an image. I have read an article on how to do this, but when it comes to these things I really need more information. The article seemed to be written with someone who is a bit more knowledgeable than me in mind! I need one of those "Dummies" books, I guess. What I would love is a peacock tail all fanned out--and spread across the banner. Of course I don't have this sort of image on hand and I am not sure about the whole copyright issue, so I guess I need to think about something different. I think I will use my same colors, but at least change the layout--at least at this point. Hopefully you will see a revamped blog soon!
Sorry no new post tonight. I have been unable to work on my blog as Typepad has been performing maintence. Now that it is back up, it looks rather strange, and it is moving at a snails pace. I hope it goes back to normal by tomorrow!
I did get to stitch a bit on my Summer exchange project. As for my Sampler House exchange--I have narrowed it down once again to two house designs. I went through my stash again. I will pick up floss tomorrow and decide which one looks better! And then I will try to start once again on it.
I also tried to match up floss for a kit I want to do. It is just a small freebie that will be finished into a needleroll. I got it from Silkweavers ages ago. At the time, I bought the fabric and floss for it also. The floss is Olde Willow Stitchery floss and the theme for the needleroll is the Fourth of July. It was a pain separating out the floss as nothing is labeled. How am I supposed to know what color "bewitched" is?! Luckily the OWS has pictures of the floss colors on the website. I hope I am at least close to getting them right! I hope to stitch it this weekend.
And I hope that Typepad gets back to normal soon. Things are looking a little weird! Happy stitching everyone!
