When I went in search of Alberto Manguel's A History of Reading in my library, I scanned the shelf for other interesting titles. In the Library of Congress Classification schedule, in the Zs you will find books cassified as "bibliographies, library science and information resources." My other preferred area in the library is the entire range of P call numbers (and there are many ranges) where you will find "Language and Literature" (and they kindly break the Ps down into subclasses as well--there are 31 pages worth of subclasses if you check out the Library of Congress classification outline). I came across another book that might be of interest to fellow bibliophiles. Harold Rabinowitz's A Passion for Books came home with me this weekend. It is filled with essays, stories, cartoons, and lists on all aspects of reading, lending, borrowing, mending of books. I think I might just pick and choose what to read from this one.
I like this Bibliolexicon that I found in the book:
- Bibliobibule--One who reads too much
- Biblioclast--One who tears the pages from or otherwise destroys books
- Bibliodemon--A book fiend or demon
- Bibliognoste--One who is knowledgeable about editions, colophons, printers, and all the minutiae of books
- Bibliographe--One who describes books
- Biblioklept--One who steals books
- Bibliolater--One who worships books
- Bibliolestes--A book robber or plunderer
- Bibliomancer--One who practices divination by books
- Bibliomane--One who accumulates books indiscriminately
- Bibliomaniac--A book lover gone mad
- Bibliophage--One who eats or devours books
- Bibliophile--One who loves books
- Bibliophobe--One who fears books
- Bibiliopole--One who sells books
- Biblioriptos--One who throws books around
- Bibliosopher--One who gains wisdom from books
- Bibliotaphe--One who buries or hides books
I am a combination Bibliomane and Bibliophile, with the occasional Bibliosopher thrown in. I hope I don't meet any Bbilioriptos!
Cute. I believe I'm a bibliophile, a recovering bibliomane, and an aspiring bibliosopher.

Isn't that book amazing? I love reading it over and over again.
I've always been fascinated with the thought of people actually eating books....

Interesting. I'm for sure a hybrid of bibliophile and bibliomane. I could be a bibliobibule - and I like the sound of that!
I browse the P sections all the day on campus - mostly PN, PR and PS. One will also find me in B (Philosophy) and DS (History of Asia) sections.

I wish I could be more of a Bibliobibule--LOL. No doubt some would say I already am, but I don't think so! I used to spend time in the N's when I was an undergrad--I got my degree in Art History.

Great, my friends are even going to become more annoyed at me for throwing these words around over our next beer!
Great list Danielle.
