Aside from contemplating what book (or maybe books) I am going to reward myself with when I finish reading Les Misérables, I have a few other things I need to organize as well. I wish I had shelf space for all my books, but I don't, so I sometimes use these nifty plastic bins to organize some of the spillover. I have two bins full of mysteries so far and now will add a third. Generally they fit nicely as I own a lot that are mass market size. My mystery piles have gotten a little tall, so I recently bought a new bin to store them in. I need to get them organized by author and pack them away nice and neatly.
I also need to add my new acquisitions into Library Thing. I find having a LT account very useful when I am looking for a book. I'm learning to use more descriptive tags, so when I am thinking of a book I want to read I can search by topic and find something that sounds interesting. Of course shuffling through piles and browsing also works, but searching online is sometimes more efficient. These books are from the library book sale I went to last month--still in their bookbag. I've got a few other piles sitting by my computer, too. It's time to add them to LT and find homes for them. The finding homes part will be a challenge. After a while I get a little restless looking at disorganized piles of books just sitting around, so I am feeling the need to clean. First another 130 or so pages to go....but am getting nearer!
I'll be cheering you on at the finishing line! :)
That's a wonderful pile of books. I have a similar problem with books that are homeless. I've got at least three piles on the floor and keeping the dog away from them is a chore. :)

Nice job with Les Mis! It'll be fun to hear your final thoughts on the book. I'm going to need some plastic bins soon too if i keep accumulating books!

Matt--I think tomorrow is going to be the day. I feel like I should be running on a track and be able to dash through that tape when I finish! :) My cat also likes to bother my stacks, so it is a trial to keep her away (why I have some in a bag--she can't get to them!).
Dorothy--I never thought I would get to the end. I do plan on posting about it, but it deserves a proper post that I might save for later when it's sunk in. I did mark some fun passages, though, that I will share. I think the ending is going to make all the work very worth it! And those bins are great for books, as they stay all nice and near in there rather than getting banged up sitting on the floor. I don't know where else to stash them.

Is there anything more gorgeous to look at than a pile of books? These are wonderful, Danielle, and make me wish I could sit on your floor and go through them all before you pack them away!

You have a wonderful stack of books and I love seeing them all. I have two towering stacks next to my bookshelf in my living room reaching almost to the top of it that I have to look at every day. I need to find another bookshelf soon. And what did I do yesterday but visit Barnes & Noble and bought 7 more books. Hah, so where will I put these? The stacks will topple over if I set them on top of those. Oh well. Time to start a new stack.

Ahh yes, the trusty plastic storage bins are my friend, too. In fact, I have one that's just about full that needs to slide under my bed.

I love looking at book piles. Let me ask you, are your crafty items also spilling over? I spent a good part of the day organizing my half of the room we call the studio. I need more plastic bins for all my stuff! So it's not just the book piles that are taking over our place but the craft items too. haha.
And, yay, you are so close to the end!

Litlove--I have a feeling that when I do get around to shuffling them into their proper places i'll spend more time reading the backs and thinking how I want to read the ones I've yet to get to than actually organizing. And I love to look through other reader's piles of books, too!
Brenda--That sounds exactly like me! I know I already have too many and can't find spaces for them, but I don't stop buying them. I've ran out of room for bookshelves--to make matters even worse!
Andi--I know I have one box of books shoved under my bed, but the bins are too large--so they get stacked....
Iliana--I've been really good this year and not bought much in the way of paper things or needlework supplies, but that doesn't mean they aren't laying around the house. I wish I had a room just for those sorts of supplies--I have yet more bins for those things. Maybe someday they will have homes of their own.
