In my last exchange a lot of people stitched projects over one--including the ornament that Romy made for me. Stitching over one looks so lovely and delicate. To be honest I am not a big fan of stitching over one. I attempted a Twisted Thread chart some years ago--twice. I messed up and then was not able to pick out my stitches. I made such a mess of it, I thought I would just start again and be more careful. Well, the same thing happened the second time around so I gave up! However, it seems to be a trend lately, and I wonder if I should give it another try? Any hints would be quite appreciated! I know Brightneedle charts call for a lot of over one stitching, and I really like this one--Needlework Shop. I know Vero stitched it, and it was a challenge for all the color changes. Hers turned out really lovely! It calls for 32 count fabric, but I wonder how hard that is to stitch over one? Of course I could cop out and buy 40 count fabric and stitch over two threads, but it does not seem to have the same look.
I must say, also, that I have been very very good in terms of getting nothing new! I have even tried to stay away from my favorite vendor sites and the bulletin boards a little bit, so as to not be tempted. However, I did sign up for two Elegant Stitch classes. They are definitely a splurge, but I will learn some new finishing techniques this way, and I have wanted to learn some new things for ages!! I believe Lois was mailing out the supplies mid-May, so they may come any day now!! The first one is in June and the second one is in September (it requires pre-stitching). So I will be watching my mailbox!!
