This is the cushion I made for Annemiek for a Summer Exchange that I was just in. I hope today Annemiek was able to pick up the package I sent and has already seen this! I thought what is more summer-y than watermelon! The design is by Bent Creek and it is actually a Zipper kit. I didn't want to use the fabric that came with the kit, so I changed to 35 count Lambswool. I had to find smaller buttons to use for the seeds, but I thought these little doll buttons worked well. And yes, once again I decided to finish it as a a little cushion with tassles on the corners. I thought this design (like the sampler house design) lended itself well to this sort of finishing.
Here is the back of the cushion. I thought the bee skep button was cute, but once it was all stitched up and closed, I wasn't so sure about it. It is a bit large really for the back, but I hope Annemiek likes it. I was afraid if I tried to cut it off I would mess up the backside, and sometimes it is just better to leave well enough alone. I really like this sort of finishing (I want to make something like this for myself now!), but I am ready to try something new as well! It is time to concentrate on my needleroll exchange on the Stitching Blogger's board, and a freebie exchange in my Birthday Buddies group. And after that there is Halloween, and a Redwork Exchange, and Christmas.....
