My mom just came back from vacation. I didn't get to go this year unfortunately. Every year she goes to visit my sister in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and last year I went with her. In the Old Town part of Fredericksburg there is this lovely little cross stitch store called Everything Cross Stitch. It isn't very big, but it is absolutely crammed with stitched models, charts, accessories, floss and fabric. I spent a lot of time in that store (and even went back a second time). Last Christmas my mom even ordered a pair of Gingher scissors from them that I had been admiring! I didn't expect anything from the store, as I figured it would be too hard to choose something. I was very surprised, however, when she brought back three very lovely designs! She asked the owner to show her some of the newer charts, and she picked a few things from the selection.
I was really happy to get Heirloom Homecoming! This was something I had been admiring when it was first released. Not only did she get the chart, but she also got the silk and accessory pack that goes with it. I will only need to order the fabric. She even got the design in the antique blues colorway. There were two choices, and this was my favorite. I am a little afraid of working on the hardanger part, but it is at the bottom so I can work my way up to (or down to as the case may be!) that portion!!
She also brought back A Sampler for Merry Pat by Blue Ribbon Designs. This is a new designer for me, but I love the chart. She know I like samplers, so she certainly made some good selections! Finally she bought one of the little Kreinik Remember the Ladies kits. I have two or three of these already, but I don't have Pinwheel Quilt, which is very cute! It is funny as I had just pulled a couple of these out of my stash thinking I need to stitch one up. Now I have another to choose from! I think Milkpaints are really pretty. Not too bad of a stash haul for someone who didn't even get to go on vacation!!
I think that in January I want to start working on some larger projects again. I already have a few ideas of what I want to stitch, and now I will add Heirloom Homecoming to the choices. I have yet to work on any stitching at all today. I had to get some cleaning done (yes, yuck!), but the dust was getting too thick even for me in my bedroom. It is all nice and clean and I even reorganized my shelf with my needlework goodies on it! Now I hope later I can work on one of my exchange projects. I am certainly getting in lots of work on small projects these days!
