Sorry, it seems lately I have had no news whatsoever to share! Do you sometimes feel like you get up and do the very same routine day in and day out?? Lately I have felt that way. I tend to keep the same schedule (partly just due to my work hours), eat the same lunch and even do the same things on the weekend. I need some excitement in my life, eh? I have even been posting about the same old things. I guess that is why I am in the mood to give my blog a bit of a facelift. I have been looking at the different templates Typepad offers (I am not too computer savvy, so it is best to stick with their designs). I have also been looking at everyone's blogs and seeing what different sorts information and layouts are used. So perhaps this weekend I will get to work on it.
I have also been a bit distracted this week as I have been reading Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. I somehow made it thus far in life without having read it. Such a shame as it is an absolutely wonderful novel!! She won the Pulitzer Prize for it in 1961 and she was most deserving!! I have had this sitting on my bookshelves for years and years, but I have been reluctant to pick it up. I knew it dealt with racial issues, and was set in the South during the depression. This somehow simply never felt like a particularly happy combination, and I hate stories with themes of prejudice. However, this was the book that was chosen by Omaha as the One City/One Book selection. There are all sorts of activities going on regarding the novel, and since I work in a library, I thought I really needed to read it. I am so happy I did. There are difficult issues--definitely, but how they are dealt with is what makes this book worthy of all the acclaim it has garnered. I plan on finishing it tonight. It will now rank high up on my list of all time favorite books!! If you have not read it, I highly recommend it!! And yes, back to the routine. I hope very soon to have something different to share!
