Here it is...finally I have finished house #2 of "Houses of Hawk Run Hollows". Now how long did that take me? Let's not think about it. Some time back I jumped ahead and began stitching on house #3, but I am glad I went back and completed this one before stitching any more of house #3. Now I am ready to work in earnest on the next one. I think completing a square gives you more of an impetus to keep going on the project as a whole.
Even though I dragged out half a dozen different CHS charts yesterday, I only worked on this one. I think I may start working on "The Sampler Farm" however. Thanks to KarenV for the information on linen that she used. I love working with overdyed linens, but sometimes it is not practical. Lately it seems that designers are really starting to use Lakeside linens as well as RR Reproductions. And even though I love Lakeside linens, I have yet to find a store that will sell a custom cut (whereas one of my regular stores will sell custom cuts of the RR linen), and buying even a quarter of a yard can be pricey. As a matter of fact most overdyed linens seem to be more expensive than plain linens. It is nice to work with what stash I have, and I have lots of Lambswool. I greatly admired Karen's when she was working on hers, and as it turns out she only stitched on 32 count Lambswool. So perhaps I will pull that chart back out and take a look at it. Unfortunately I had to spend the afternoon cleaning today, as the dust bunnies were threatening to take over. By the time I finish the rest of my weekend chores, I am not sure if there will be time to stitch. But maybe I can squeeze in a little!
One more thing. Yesterday I mentioned the new Judy Odell design, and the fact that my friend Jodi's dad had made the thread keepers that go in the kits. Jodi kindly sent me the URL, so you can take a peek at his wonderful work! The website is called Bloom Woodworks. Check out the "Gallery" link in particular! I especially like the little ruler that is grouped with the "My Beekeeper" design (yes, that is the same one that is a UFO in my house!). She also gave me a sneek peek of some gorgeous designs that will be featured on the website later this week! I wish I could share a photo here now, but I will try and remember to link again when the photos are up!! They are definitely going on my wish list! :)
