With the Fourth of July just around the corner (three weeks from today!), it is time to think about whether I want to stitch something for the holiday. I usually like to stitch some little design for each holiday (though I am more successful for some more than others). I pulled out a few possibilities. They are all smaller designs. I have a couple of Blackbird Design charts, but they are slightly larger. I am afraid to start anything new that is too large in fear I won't get it stitched in time and it will then just end up as another UFO. So, I have two needlerolls, a chart of strawberries and a cushion. The top left needleroll was a little kit that I ordered ages ago from Silkweavers, if I remember correctly. The bottom left is a SB needleroll. The middle is a Pairie Schooler chart (she always has the most unique designs--garden gloves, Christmas stockings, strawberries!), and finally a Shepherds Bush flag design. What I particularly like about this is that it can be finished as a cushion. According to the chart there is (or was at one time) a finishing kit that can be ordered from Merry Cox. It is a particular kind of cushion, that I haven't a clue how to make myself. If you click on the photo, you might be able to see this a bit closer. I am leaning towards the PS design, but they would probably be quick to stitch (I would just choose one or two), so I might choose something else as well. I should have added the PS chart- "A Prairie Year" here as I have decided to set aside poor April bunny and jump ahead to the July design and try to get back on track with my monthly project. I know I will not be able to catch up right now, so it is better to jump ahead and try and stitch the ones I missed later. These are all from my stash, so I don't feel too badly starting something new.
I have momentarily jumped off the wagon (yes, jumped!!). I ordered my CHS - "Village of Hawk Run Hollow" supplies today. I know it is a big investment. The trick is to just buy this one thing and not be tempted to go crazy with orders! I am getting my things from Needlecraft Corner (no affiliation--just a happy customer). She has put together a special package deal for the supplies. I am getting the called for 40 count linen, as well as the chart, and NPI silks. I really like working with NPI silks, and they are cheaper than AVAS. I know it would be more economical to use DMC, but I started with DMC on the HoHRH, and I ended up switching to AVAS! Since this is definitely something that will be framed and an heirloom I am willing to splurge a bit. Since I know I will be working on it for a while, I might as well get the materials I enjoy stitching with! Who else has ordered this? And will you be joining the SAL on the Legacy bulletin board? Drema said she believes she will be sending out orders at the end of June or beginning of July--something to look forward to!
