Last night I went through some of my stash (I had some idea of what I was looking for), and pulled out these charts. Yes, I am still looking for that perfect project that I can't stop working on and don't want to put down. Not that I am not enjoying the other projects that I am working on, but some of them are very long term projects that I know will take me ages to complete. I can't seem to keep with one thing right now (and to think I was actually pulling out UFOs and working on them not so long ago!)--it's like finding that one book that you don't want to stop reading! I will have progress photos to show you soon, too on some of my other WIPs. I have been working on those other smaller projects and have finished or nearly finished stitching on a couple, but I would like to see what I can get done tonight and share tomorrow or Monday.
So, what have I come up with? A few Halloween project to start with. I think I am so tired of the heat of summer, I am ready to start thinking of cool autumn days. Especially when it is supposed to be over 100 degrees this weekend! I definitely want to try and stitch Just Nan's "TrickOrTreat Box" this year. I had to have it when it came out, but then never got to it! I also had planned on stitching Sheepish Designs "Scarry Wabbit" last year. Annemiek very kindly sent me the YLI ribbons that are called for (and I love the Miss Murphy photos Annemiek!!) last year, but this was another project I didn't get done! This year I am planning ahead!! I also pulled out the Shepherds Bush kit "Spooky Sheep" as I have been trying to stitch all of the sheep designs. I think I will save that one until closer to the holiday. It is one that can easily be stitched in a weekend. Also I came across "Miss Kitty's Dragons" by Just Nan. I love this design and always think about stitching it, but I never do. I have the fabric, and I can easily get the DMC. It calls for silks, but I think DMC would work just as well. I want to finish it as a needlecase, which means I would probably have to splurge for the finishing kit, but I could worry about that later--must stitch it first. I also pulled out a little chart "Life's a Stitch" by Lizzie Kate. I would have to find a substitute linen, but it would be a nice fast project. So, lots to choose from!
I have been looking at INS websites, and it is so tempting to fall completely off the wagon, but I have to try and be good. The Prairie Schooler charts are ordered. A groups of friends are having a SAL for The Halloween Fairy. While this is not the sort of design I traditionally stitch, I do like some of Mirabilia's charts. I really like all the little fairies. I will have to put it on a wish list instead I think, and content myself with watching their progress instead!
When I went through my stash last night, it was primarily to look for stitching ideas for the last three birthdays that I will be stitching for in my birthday exchange. They are not until November and December, but I don't want to be late anymore with gifts. Also I am sure I will be busy with a bit of holiday stitching, so it is better to plan now. I have definitely decided on one, and I think I already have supplies in my stash, think I have decided on the second one, and the third will be an ornament. I just need to hear from the recipient what sorts of designs she prefers. Of course this makes me want to start thinking about what I will be stitching for gifts this year. Is it any surprise to you I tend to be a last minute person? I really don't like being that way. Is anyone else already contemplating the holidays yet?
