Not too long ago I splurged and ordered this Carriage House Samplings chart, "Strawberry Blonde". I really like this design and want to stitch it. The problem sometimes with getting new charts is then kitting them up. While I love CHS designs (pretty much my favorite designer), and I love the materials used for the models, I can't always afford them. This calls for 40 count Meadow Rue by Lakeside Linens and NPI silks. I am not sure anywhere sells custom cuts of Lakeside Linens and it is not cheap. NPI silks are cheaper than others, but still not as cheap as plain old DMC. In the latest Shakespeare's Peddler newsletter I saw that this chart has been converted to Crescent Colors floss and plain old Cream linen. I might have to kit it up with this conversion. You can see the photo of the floss here (scroll down to the bottom). She has also converted some Prairie Schooler charts, which are very tempting as well! I am not very good at making substitutions on charts, but it is nice when designers off you more than one option or shop owners make conversions like these!
