I really love Postcrossing. I am finding it hugely addicting--connecting with people all over the world and seeing snapshots of places (and maybe even something of the person writing the card, too) I am probably unlikely ever to travel to (though never say never, right?). I admit, though, I was just lamenting the fact that so many of my postcards have either come from or have gone to the United States, where I live. And while I love each and every card I have received I yearn for the exotic and unfamiliar and am always hoping something unusual, too, will show up in the mail alongside the more familiar.
Well, lo and behold, completely unexpectedly I came home to discover a postcard from one of those far flung places that I have secretly been hoping to receive one from. What are the chances that I would get a card from Ushuaia, the southern-most tip of Argentina! Needless to say I am quite pleased to have a postcard from an entirely different part of the world than I've thus far received.
And I love those little penguins.
I'm not sure how the postal system works so far down south, but this is the stamp that was used. It was covered with another small label reading "Taxe Percue Mexico Cartas LC", which I'm unsure about, but after traveling for 37 days it made it to its destination safe and sound, and to much pleasure of the recipient.
