I've had many good experiences with Postcrossing so far. Occasionally when I send a card the recipient will kindly send one back to me. I have been trying to do the same when I can--when there seems to be an interest in a further swap. This card, which I received this week, is the result of just such a swap.
As lovely as the images are on this card, I think they don't do quite enough justice to how totally striking the Dom Tower of Utrecht really is. If you look at the images on the Wikipedia page, you can see just how impressive this 14th century structure is. It reminded me of the Cathedral in Sevilla, another massive building. Living in the US where buildings are not more than a couple of centuries old, it always puts me in awe to think of the people who built these amazing structures.
The cathedral associated with the Dom Tower was never completed due to lack of funds and then the nave collapsed in the 1600s, so only the tower remains standing. The Postcrosser who sent me this card tells me that it is the biggest church tower in The Netherlands. Utrecht is a very old city, and it began around the Dom. As the country is very flat it can be seen from very far away.
I've received another Postcrossing stamp as well.
