I love this postcard of Holland with all the different images of windmills. I had no idea that they were so large and that there was such a variety of them. According to the Wikipedia:
"Of the 10,000 windmills in use in the Netherlands around 1850, about 1000 are still standing. Most of these are being run by volunteers though there are some grist mills still operating commercially."
Out of curiosity does anyone know when it is proper to say The Netherlands and when Holland? I see Holland on many postcards, but it seems that The Netherlands is used officially.
I don't know any Dutch, but I think the stamp shows the Rembrandt House Museum. You can see two different designs in the series here. Very cool. I love those tall skinny houses that seem to me so very European!
