Although no one has actually asked to see my flowers...ta da...here they are. They look quite happy (can flowers look happy?) in the sunshine. We shall see what the heat and humidity do to them later (not to mention the worms!). No doubt all my planters will have a similar look to them unless I get really creative and buy something other than petunias! Last year my mom had a similar round planter like this (a bit larger perhaps) and her flowers were literally overflowing. They looked so gorgeous. I hope mine will do as well. I'll let you know how it turns out later this summer...
Iliana had some great links on her blog, that you should check out! I am a bit interested in the Paperback Swap site. It sounds like it could be good as long as everyone holds up their end of the deal. I have been thinking about trying it out. I don't really need any help in accumulating more books, but this could be a way of passing along some books I have read and want to "recycle", and perhaps get a few back in return I am interested in reading. I have been wanting to try this one out--Book Crossing has been around for a little while now. You basically just "release" a book you have read out into the big, wide world. If you are lucky, you can then track its whereabouts. I should have done it when I went on vacation last summer.
Another interesting book blog idea I have come across is blogs dedicated to one particular book or author. 400 Windmills is all about Don Quixote. There is The Proust Reading Group. And The Vollmann Club. I am curious what other ones there might be out there. I have "Don Quixote" on my classics pile and would like to read it this year, but I am not sure I will ever read Proust (though I do look sometimes). I have also never read William Vollmann (but I don't rule out giving him a try). This would be a great way to share interest in a common author or book--a sort of online book club!
One more petunia picture for the road. It is good to enjoy them now while they look so nice. I hope to hit the bookstore (or two) after work tomorrow. Fridays are so nice!
