Rear Window is one of my all time favorite movies. I have seen it more times than I can count. It seems like the perfect movie to pull out this week and watch. If you have never seen it, you really must. Anything by Alfred Hitchcock is great, but this one is a classic. Jimmy Stewart plays a photographer who is stuck in a wheelchair after an accident. It is set in New York City in the summer, and it is swelteringly hot. There is nothing better to do, but watch his neighbors out his back window, which opens onto a courtyard. Of course this only leads to trouble. Grace Kelly plays his socialite girlfriend, and she is only too happy to get involved. They think they witness and murder, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence of the crime. You'll have to watch it to see what happens. The acting is great, the soundtrack is great. This film is based on a short story by Cornell Woolrich. I have several of his books, but I admit I have not read any of his work yet. Since it is also swelteringly hot here (95 today and 98 tomorrow), this is just the thing to watch in a nice air conditioned house to keep the boredom away!
