Today I had to return some of my stack of library books. I took six back and came home with three. So my pile is not really getting that much smaller, but I tried. Some I had read, and some I will have to check out later on. I had too many due around the 4th of July, and there is no way I will have time to get them all read. Unfortunately some I could not renew, so I will have to go back to the end of the list.
I didn't realize that the library was going to be a busy place today. This weekend is our Summer Arts Festival. I go the Main Branch of the public library, which is the largest and located in our downtown (which I live close enough to walk to--at least I think it is close enough). In conjunction with the Summer Arts Festival the library was presenting the 10th Annual Young Artist Exhibition. All the works were made by local students. I had to share a few of the photos as I think the artwork is really wonderful! There was work there by all age groups, but I think most of my photos are by high school students. It is amazing what these kids can do!
Here are some fun mice hand puppets by the younger students. Very nice, eh?! This is the inside of my public library. It is a pretty nice building. It has three floors plus a computer room in the basement. They just renovated, and it really helped as the interior was looking pretty dated. So what did I come home with? I have been waiting for a while for The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. There has been a waiting list for this one, so I have started it now as I can't renew it. So, instead of decreasing my reading pile, as usual it is increasing. I also checked out Nancy Pearl's More Book Lust. This is one I will just browse, so no pressure. I am always happy to add new titles to my wish list! I also got Rococo by Adriana Trigiani. This looks like a quick, light read.
The library faces a mall on one side where there are paths and a man made pond. The Summer Arts Festival was right next to the mall and library, so I headed on out to take a look at all the cool stuff for sale. Unfortunately it was raining, so it was a quick walk through. I am also rather broke, as always, so I couldn't even afford an overpriced soda! I did like the artwork in this booth, however. At least looking is free!
