In one of my previous (recent) posts I listed an interesting book that is due out soon: Envelopes: A Puzzling Journey Through the Royal Mail, which I think I am going to have to buy. I love unusual envelopes or mail--it is amazing what has been sent through the mail. You would think it could never be delivered, but I imagine that if it has an address and correct postage, it will get delivered! I have created my own kind of mail art--envelopes made out of fabric and stitched on. This is an example of one I made earlier in the year. It was mailed (and received with no problems) all the way to Australia!
I have just started on another mail art project. Here is my before photo. I can't show the chart I am working from (just a tiny peek) as I am drawing inspiration from there! Also the recipient may be stopping by here, and I don't want to ruin the surprise for her. However this is the linen and colors I chose. After I get everything stitched I will sew it into a "fabric envelope", and take it to the post office. This one will also be going all the way to Australia! Of course once it has arrived to its destination, I will share it with you!
