While I am greatly enjoying several books that I am reading from my nightstand pile (the same three I posted about yesterday--doing a bit of juggling this weekend), I have to be honest and say that I am always thinking what I want to tackle next when I finish....(fill in the blank). Susan at Pages Turned recently posted about the books she is already plotting out to read in the near and maybe distant future. Here are the books that have been on my mind to read next. Of course all of these future reads are contingent on finishing something from my current reads pile first. I will likely finish The Thirteenth Tale sometime this week. Since it is a RIP book, I can pick from the three standing up: The Turn of the Screw, Frankenstein or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (leaning heavily towards the Henry James at the moment!). When I finally finish Robinson Crusoe I plan on picking up The Three Musketeers (yay!), and something by Thomas Hardy after that (am really planning ahead here). I am past the halfway mark in The Forest Lover, and likely I will pick The Mists of Avalon, but I have a few others that I want to read as well: Frenchman's Creek (or one of the other titles by Daphne DuMaurier that I am eagerly awaiting, which should be coming in the mail very soon), Holy Fools (which I keep picking up and then putting down in favor of some other book), or one of the new books I bought--The Thief Taker or Passion. I am hoping to finish The Observations (really I only need a few days to finish as this is fast and entertaining reading--not sure what my problem is--I should have finished it long ago), and then pick out one of my library books to read after: The Keep, Gentlemen and Players or The Secret River (likely to be the Grenville since it needs to go back first and I have already had it too long). I should have put Indiana on one of the piles, though it is already waiting on the nightstand. As soon as I finish Little Women it is up next. It worked out well as both are for book groups, the Alcott for the end of this month and the Sand for the end of next month. Of course "reading at whim" (as Susan calls it) may come into play at any time during my planning, but I am constantly readjusting my TBR pile anyway. Thinking about what to read next is nearly as entertaining as reading itself, I think.
