Today is supposedly the busiest shopping day of the year. I'm afraid I didn't get up at 4:00 a.m. to catch the sales. I was warmly tucked away in bed! Crowds tend to stress me out, so I stay away from stores on days like today. I am not averse to a little virtual window shopping however (from the comfort of my own quiet home). So, here are a few bookish ideas for gifts in honor of the day.
- Shh, Reading Door Hanger -- I wonder if I had one of these would people refrain from bugging me when I am reading?
- Bookopoly -- "You buy, sell, and trade classic works of literature. Interesting facts about the books and authors are printed on the back of each property deed. Roll the dice and advance to Read. Collect bookstores and trade them for libraries."
- Library CD Storage Cabinets -- How fun. I've always wanted a library card catalog!
- Poetry on Record: 98 Poets Read Their Work (1888-2006) -- This looks like it could be cool. I'd love to hear Robert Frost read his own poems.
- Never Judge a Book by Its Movie T-Shirt -- I hate bad film adaptations from books, so I have to agree with their sentiment.
- Books to the Ceiling Plaque -- Now if this was a poster, I'd have to get it for my book room. Not that there's much wall space...
- Marcel Proust Notecards -- I think I am going to read at the first volume of In Search of Lost Time next year. These have quotations from Proust.
- Literary Genius: 25 Classic Writers Who Define English and American Literature, edited by Joseph Epstein -- Only 25? How could they choose?
- Too Many Books Tote Bag -- You can never have enough book bags.
- Readers Book of Postcards -- I love these little postcard books, but I never want to tear them out and use them.
- Authors Bookmark Set -- And you can never have enough bookmarks either.
- Forgotten English Knowledge Cards -- I love learning about language and where words come from.
