I wasn't going to join anymore new reading challenges even though there is a plethora of them out there at the moment. So, what am I planning on doing? Join a reading challenge for 2008 of course. I found this via Stefanie and it sounded so creative I couldn't pass it up. Annie from Words By Annie is hosting it, and anyone who is ten and blogging and thinking up reading challenges deserves a little attention, I think. It runs from January 1, 2008 through the end of the year and you choose a book to fit into each category. Here's what I've come up with:
1. A book with a color in its title. The Crimson Portrait by Jodi Shields
2. A book with an animal in its title. Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively
3. A book with a first name in its title. Jane and Prudence by Barbara Pym
4. A book with a place in its title. Vienna by Eva Menasse
5. A book with a weather event in its title. One Fine Day by Mollie Panter-Downes
6. A book with a plant in its title. Flowers of the Field by Sarah Harrison
The fine print: I reserve the right to make substitutions in any category. These are the books that sound appealing to me at the moment, but I'm not sure what I'll feel like reading four months down the road. Actually I came up with a long list of possibilities and in some cases it was hard to choose just one. The one thing I'd like to do in any case is choose books that I already have on my shelves and in a few cases, some of these books I've owned for years! I wouldn't mind grabbing one of these books and starting now...
