Well, I mentioned I was going to do this. The piles (not just 'pile', but 'piles'...) have gotten a little too tall, so it's time again to try and get things under control before the end of the year. I've done this for the last couple of years with reasonably good success. I'm starting early this year since there seem to be more books than previously. The plan is to get them all read by the end of the year. There are still books I want to read and will start at some point (books for two reading challenges and then there's still Anna Karenina), but rather than just picking up a book at whim (this may be harder than I think) and starting it, I can't start a new book without first finishing at least one (or preferably two) books that are on these piles.
So fifteen-ish weeks left in the year and countless pages to read...here's what's in the pile:
- Shirley, Charlotte Bronte
Deception's Daughter, Cordelia Frances BiddleRebecca, Daphne du Maurier- Vienna, Eva Menasse
Ruth Hall, Fanny Fern- The Seamstress, Frances de Pontes Peebles
- The Empress of Weehawken, Irene Dische
- The Go-Between, L.P. Hartley
- Emily Post: Daughter of the Gilded Age, Mistress of American Manners, Laura Claridge
The Ivy Tree, Mary StewartDusty Answer, Rosamond LehmannThe Tenderness of Wolves, Stef Penney- Yesterday's Weather: Stories, Anne Enright
Les Misérables, Victor Hugo- Wave Me Goodbye, Anne Boston
- Life Studies: Stories, Susan Vreeland
A Fortnight in September, RC Sherriff
Four books a month? And maybe a few on the side. Hopefully my interest and willpower won't wane.
