January was a really hard month for me. It was a long, dark, cold month. I thought with the nice weekend we just had and the arrival of February things might just be looking up. Most of the snow we had melted, the sidewalks were finally clean and dry, and wouldn't you know it, it's snowing out again! Arrrggghh. It has been so hard getting up and facing my cold walk to the bus stop every morning. Some days I have to force myself to get out of bed, and then drag out my scarf, heavy mittens and ear muffs and push myself out into the cold. I guess there's nothing for it but to just press on and be happy the weather is not worse than it is. If anyone has some to spare....please send sunshine.
On a happier note I have been working on a needlework project. It's been weeks since I picked up a needle and thread, and this weekend I finally found some time and made a little progress on my "French Heart" (there will be a heart stitched here eventually--seems fitting for February, eh?). Of course the progress came after I discovered I had stitched almost the whole little house motif with an extra row of stitches. I would have just left them in but there are so many borders that it would have thrown the whole design off, so I made myself pick out the stitches and start over. Often when I find I've made an error I will set it aside and not pick it up for months. I'm pretty happy as I not only fixed the house, but stitched the motifs to the right of it as well. And is it just me, or does it seem like the angel looks a little like Groucho Marx? It's the bushy eyebrows! Maybe I need to dig out an unfinished project that has a garden in it--I could do with some green grass and flowers about now.
