I managed to finish one book this past weekend (and read a tiny bit in a couple of others). Finish one book, get six new ones. I think this is called advanced math. In any case the books seem to multiply somehow and end up in my mailbox. The good news is the bottom four are bookmooches and the top two were passed along to me by another reader and a publisher. From top to bottom:
The Unforgotten, Clare Francis - This year seems to be my year of reading dangerously, or at least reading books filled with danger and suspense. Litlove, aware of my tendencies towards these addictive reads kindly sent me a novel she enjoyed and which I fully expect to enjoy as well. I know I shouldn't, but one of the things that's nice about being a grown-up is I can start however many books I like, and there's no one to tell me I can't. So, yes, have already dipped into this one. besides, how can I not when the cover blurb from the Daily Mail reads, "devilishly clever and unputdownable."
The Reunion, Simone van der Vlugt - HarperCollins in the UK kindly sent this to me to read, and again I couldn't resist starting it as well. It's by a Dutch writer who is internationally acclaimed for her psychological thrillers. This is a story of two young girls, one goes missing, and what happens years later when the past comes back to haunt the one left behind.
Paris Requiem, Lisa Appignanesi - I read this author years and years ago. I found this on Bookmooch--a crime novel set in 1899 Paris.
The Blue Room, Georges Simenon - Another tense psychological tale. Love Simenon!
The Perfect Daughter, Gillian Linscott - A Nell Bray mystery. I've yet to read the first (have it on my pile), but this is the second novel set in Edwardian England by Linscott.
The Moonlit Cage, Linda Holeman - A nice straightforward historical novel set in 19th century London and Afghanistan.
I realize I'll never get caught up with my reading, but it's fun trying.
