Some of these books might be September reads. I'm afraid this is going to be a very lazy post because I just want to go and read. Over the long weekend I set four books aside (ongoing reads that is not new ones) that I wanted to try and finish, or at least make serious dents in. I managed to finish one and made a little progress in the other three. Maybe I can finish the rest this week? I tend to dream big when it comes to what I can accomplish with my reading. I never quite do, but it's fun to try.
Since I've been so busy buying books, I just want to go and read some of them now. Over the weekend I also sorted through some of the new ones (and a few of the older ones as well) and picked out a few that really appeal to me at the moment (left one out, I see). I'm not quite sure which I'll pick up first, but I have them at the ready.
As for the collection of stories by Katherine Mansfield, after reading a Daphne du Maurier story (with the intention of reading one story each week) it brought back how much I enjoy short stories. I tend to ignore them unless I make a concerted effort to read and try and write about them, which made me think I should start this up again, and why wait until the new year? This would have to wait until I finished the du Maurier collection of course, but there's nothing wrong with thinking about it now. Since Katherine Mansfield seems to be the premiere short story writer (or one of them anyway) and I happen to have a rather large collection of her work, why not start there? It would take me a good while to make my way through the book, but I think it would be well worth the effort (maybe like Stefanie's Emerson reading project?). Well, we'll see if I stick with the idea in a few weeks.
For now anyway, I'm off to read.
