Stefanie and Iliana have inspired me to share my own Halloween Meme answers in honor of the holiday. It seems like a nice easy, Saturday sort of post, so here goes:

1. Which urban legend ghost scared the bejeesuz out of you when you were a kid?
I don't know if this is an urban legend and I can't remember who told it to me or how it went exactly (I have an awful memory), but to this day I can't look in a mirror in the dark because when I was little my friends told me you might see someone else looking back at you! And after a little investigating I see it really is an urban legend.
2. Which horror movie has the best premise?
Definitely Psycho. That shower scene is a classic. How many movies keep you riveted even after the heroine has departed in the first part of the movie?! Second choice would be Rosemary's Baby, which I've seen more times than I care to admit. It never fails to creep me out. Poor Mia Farrow being drugged by her husband and neighbors. And to what end. Eek.
3. What is the most disappointing “treat” to receive in your bag on Halloween night?
Apples. I love apples, but as a kid an apple was such a letdown. And it was always one of those red apples, which I've never liked (much prefer the green ones).
4. What’s the best non-candy item to receive?
Quarters. I obviously did better in this department than Stefanie did. Or maybe it was only pennies and I've increased the amount in my mind due to inflation. It was so long ago...
5. Did a monster live in your closet when you were a child?
No. It was under the bed.
6. Which supernatural creature sent chills up your spine when you were ten and still does?
Zombies. Are they supernatural? The whole idea of civilization being gone and all those zombies out there munching away really does give me the chills. Body snatchers aren't very nice to think about either. In any case it's the idea that the human race has been taken over by whatever nasty creature is out there and you're the last one.
7. Which supernatural creature makes you yawn?
The wolf man. But maybe I've just seen too many Abbott and Costello movies.
8. What’s your favorite Halloween decoration?
Jack O' Lanterns of course.
9. If you could be anywhere on Halloween night, where would you be?
As an adult I've never been big on Halloween parties. I'd prefer to be watching a good movie at home and eating popcorn.
10. What’s the scariest book you’ve read so far this year?
I've not read anything really scary, but in terms of suspenseful or ghost stories, some good bets would be In the Woods, The Little Stranger and most recently The Woman in Black.
11. Haunted houses or haunted hayrides?
Haunted Houses. I remember going as a kid with my dad and sister. Nothing like a complete stranger giving you a good scare.
12. Which Stephen King novel/movie would you least like to find yourself trapped in?
The Shining. There's lots of scary, suspenseful scenes in that movie. And to be snowed in, miles and miles away from anyone...and Jack Nicholson did the whole demented thing a little too convincingly.
13. Which is creepiest: evil dolls, evil pets, evil children?
Evil dolls. And they always run around with really big knives that look incredibly sharp.
Sheesh, I think I scared myself. I'm probably going to have a nightmare tonight. And if this doesn't do it, I've lined up The Haunting to watch later.
Have a fun Halloween everyone. Don't eat too much candy!
