Matthew

Happy Thanksgiving, Danielle! I won't be cooking as well but baking a chocolate truffle cake to be brought to the feast. I also plan to finish reading Brideshead Revisited. :)

Edd

Danielle,

I hope you are having a good and restful holiday. We celebrated Thanksgiving with twenty-four family members with the following menu:

Turkey, Turkey Giblet gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Baked Ham, Baked Sweet Potatoes, Corn Casserole (my daughter-in-law’s recipe), White Angel Mashed Potatoes (my Ohio sister’s recipe), Baked Corn Bread dressing, Sweet Potato Soufflé, Green Beans, Homemade Pumpkin and Chocolate pies, and Crescent Rolls with genuine artery clogging butter.

Everyone just left and Jane said with a load sigh she is going to someone else’s house for Christmas dinner!

A stuffed and true South Carolina friend,

Edd…

Danielle,

Forgot, Jane and Barbara took almost the same menu down to the Homeless Shelter early this morning. So in effect they cooked two identical menus this morning. I have one tired wife! Please forgive the typo in the post above.

Kailana

Hope you had a great Turkey Day!

Tiina

That is a lovely cake! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Danielle!

Greetings,
Tiina

Kathleen Pizzo

The desserts look yummy! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

litlove

How about that, I was reading Georgette Heyer yesterday too! Do hope you enjoyed yours. And your cakes look incredibly scrummy!

Darlene

Happy Thanksgiving Danielle! Scrummy looking desserts and pumpkin pie too...heaven. Watching the Today show yesterday morning I heard that the average Thanksgiving Day dinner has 3,000 calories, yikes! Lets hope that number is based on going back for thirds, something I'm sure you do not do. Enjoy your holiday and happy reading!

ted

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you ate well!

Vipula

Happy Thangksgiving ! The food looks delicious :).
I hope you ate a lot!

catharina

Happy Thanksgiving Danielle. I hope the Strawberry Wedding Cake tasted as delicious as it looks.

Danielle

Matthew--Chocolate truffle cake sounds very yummy indeed! Brideshead Revisited is on my list of books to read, too! Hope you had a great time!
Edd--I can imagine Jane and the other cooks must be exhausted after all that cooking And cleaning up!! It all sounds delicious, though. And that's extremely kind a second dinner went to a homeless shelter--I'm sure it must have been very appreciated! Glad you had a nice day.
Kailana--Thanks--it was a nice day and I even got in a little reading along with all the chatting!
Tiina--Thanks very much. The cake was delicious and much lighter that it looks even. I love fresh strawberries and the frosting was like cream--yummy.
Kathleen--Everything was a little too good! I hope you had a nice holiday, too.
Litlove--Which Heyer were you reading? I finished the Foundling today and enjoyed it immensely. It's good the cake was small as it was good--just enough to go around.
Darlene--I heard on local news it was 4000 calories! I like the other estimate better. I admit to second on dressing as I only get it once a year, but I had to leave room for dessert, so not more than that. And I tried to keep the servings small. I think I've done pretty well though--an hour on the treadmill yesterday and today, and this afternoon was so nice I spent a few hours cleaning up the yard--hopefully that's the end of the leaves. And hopefully I worked off all the extra calories, too! :)
Ted--Thanks, I did! Hope you had a great day too.
Vipula--Did you get to celebrate the day with a traditional meal here? I had a very generous meal that's for sure!
Catharina-Thanks. The strawberry cake was great. It tasted like strawberry shortcake. And it was light, too, so perfect after a meal like that.

Stefanie

What a gorgeous cake! I hope you had a great celebration!

Danielle

Stefanie--I did have a lovely day and the cake was yummy--it tasted just like strawberry shortcake! :)
