I've finished my "Sampler Farm" needlework project. As it is a holiday weekend and very quiet around here, I thought I'd share my work--an easy post to write and read!
It's not a very large design, but hard to get a close up of that includes the whole sampler. The dimensions are 9-3/4 x 3-1/2 and I stitched it on 32 count linen.
All the little frames have words or designs that are stitched over one linen thread, which I find challenging and am sure I have complained about here already.
I love this frame with the words Sampler Farm as they look like they are growing on/hanging off a vine. Very fitting for a farm, don't you think?
These sunflowers were beasts to stitch and my least favorite part of the sampler. I have several mistakes in this frame, but I think you will have to have a good eye to catch them! I plan on pulling out my sewing machine before the weekend's finished and sewing this into a little cushion. Photo to follow on some other slow day!
And last night I put in my first few stitches on a small design that seems perfect for April, though hopefully I won't have to use the refrain (our weather has been unseasonably warm...to make up for the many days of snow?). I like small project as with short books they offer instant gratification!
And there has been a little reading going on this weekend as well. I've been working on Joan Didion's book of essays, Slouching Towards Bethlehem (and am ready to start reading the titular essay next), as well as Connie Willis's Blackout (it's due at the library this week and I can't renew it...do I return it late or take it back on time and get back in line? Return it late probably...sorry to whoever is next in line), and I've arrived at the point of no turning back on Simon Mawer's The Glass Room!
My Easter as you can see has been very quiet (but I like quiet holidays). If you are celebrating, Happy Easter to you!
