Ever since finishing Mary Stewart's My Brother Michael with its Greek setting and literary references, I've been contemplating the fact that I have read not a single Greek Classic (as in Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles and the like). Other than Homer (which I did read in school), I don't even own any books. My best recommendations always come from other readers, so any help on what I might read and where to start would be appreciated. I don't have any plans simmering, but I'd like to keep the idea in the back of my mind. It's amazing how reading one book inevitably leads to wanting to learn more about a particular place or time!
By the way that's The Temple of Apollo at Delphi (Delphi was the setting in the Stewart book), and the photo is from this Wikipedia article.
Thanks in advance for any reading ideas.
