Later this month I will be making my last credit card payment. Hurrah! It has taken me many, many years of budgeting, forgoing vacations (lots of years with no vacations has made this reader a cranky girl), and going without things I would love to own in order to say those words! Now that I will be out from under that debt, I am hoping to manage my funds much better in the future and do some serious saving. In honor of my new independence I've decided I can have a little celebration, so I have signed up for Claire and Verity's Persephone Secret Santa exchange. Previously I have always had to sit on the sidelines and watch the fun, but this year I have decided to partake of it myself! I know I could easily just order a Persephone book for myself, but the fun is in the camaraderie and knowing a special secret (bookish) treat is in the mail this holiday season and being able to reciprocate for someone else.
If you are interested in joining you can click on either link above for more information. Looking at my stack of unread Persephones I should probably be good and read what I own first, but where's the fun in that? Besides, someday I would love to own a complete set, so this will add to my collection. I've managed to let the whole year slip away without reading a single Persephone title, so I think this calls for a browse through my books to pick one out and read now. Saplings had been on my list of books to read this year. Should I pick that one? Hmm...
