Harriet

As I too have finally cracked the short story, I'm happy to have this recommendation -- I've heard so much about Munro in the past and this reminds me that she should go on the want list straight away. Thanks (and a happy new year to you!).

Kathy

I bought this book for my mother-in-law for Christmas after hearing you talk about it, and after looking it up on Amazon. I think she'll really like it, and I hope to borrow it from her when she's done. (I'm sneaky like that.)

Danielle

I think once you get hooked on short stories you really do enjoy them. I have a stack of story collections that I want to get to--and a variety of authors. I hope to read more short stories next year, and Alice Munro is definitely a good place to start! Happy New Year, Harriet and happy reading in 2013!

Danielle

You'll have to let me know what she thinks of it--and what you think of it when you get to it, too! :) I bought a few books for my niece that I am, ahem, hoping to borrow eventually...

Harriet

Thanks, Danielle -- same to you.

Stefanie

You know, I just might manage to finally read Munro in 2013 and it will all be because of you if I do!

Danielle

Yay! She's wonderful. I'm not sure which of her collections is the best to start with--though this one was really good. I think all her books are probably wonderful. I read The Lives of Girls and Women a very long time ago, which I thought was a regular novel, but it might actually be a set of interlinked stories. And she has a new book out, Dear Life--more short stories, which I might jump to and read next (next of her work that is). I can't wait to hear what you think of her!
