Lady Addle may remember, but I certainly don't! Someone out there must have recommended Mary Dunn to me and made her sound so tempting that I ordered this book, which just arrived causing me much confusion. Either she was recommended or the cold has addled my brain (and memory) sufficiently that I am now ordering books with no rhyme or reason whatsoever.
I can only otherwise assume I meant to order a book by Nell Dunn (of Virago--Up the Junction fame, which I read at the beginning of the year, if you recall). I fear I was trying to get Poor Cow by Dunn (Nell, that is), though how I managed to drop Lady Addle Remembers in the order basket is beyond me.
Alas, Lady Addle Remembers is mine now, too cheap to return it, so I will make the best of it. The cover blurb reads 'a brilliant and hilarious parody of Victorian memoirs . . . highly recommended." It is a spoof that comes complete with photographs. If the TLS recommends it, surely it must be a worthwhile read? And if not . . . well, there are only 113 pages to get through otherwise.
