Isn't this a lovely image? Such a nice spring-y sort of feel to it--a book, cup of tea and some flowers. Wishful thinking since it was snowing on my walk home from work yesterday! (At least it melted as quickly as it fell, but still . . .). It's been a while since I have shared any of my bookish postcards with you. I am not so active anymore with Postcrossing, but I still exchange postcards with a few friends and quite often something reading or book related will find its way into my mailbox.
I've got a busy weekend filled with house and garden projects that are likely to require my full attention, so I thought I could leave you with a few nice images to look at while I am away. I still hope to do my weekend short story reading, but I will tell you about them next week sometime. Until then, maybe one of these cards will make you smile or brighten your day!
What little French I learned is pretty rusty, so I am not sure what this says, but the photo is great! I'm not sure what the story behind it is, an advertising postcard maybe?
If I could click my heels and wish myself there, this is where I would spend my weekend. Book in hand at the seaside listening to the waves gently lapping. Bliss.
I love this card. Isn't it great? So mysterious with the lady hiding and the body laid out to the side. What do you think the story behind this one is? The artist is Quint Buchholz and it is called "Im Land der Bucher".
What a nice and neat pile of books. Looks a little like my own in progress stack (though not quite so neat). The photo is by Daniela Schneider for Cardcetera (a wonderful postcard company in the Netherlands).
Another blissful way to spend an afternoon. Bring on that sunshine and I'll provide the reading material. The painting is by Joaquin Sorolla (1863-1923) called "In the Garden", 1986.
Someone with bigger book piles than me! Can you read the sign? It says "do not touch" and no doubt--pull a book from there and start an avalanche!
And I end with this card of Terry Pratchett who just passed away last month. I've yet to read any of his books but I do have at least one on my reading pile. I know he was a much loved author. The postcard shows a stamp issued by the Royal Mail in 2011.
For more literary postcards: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6 and Part 7.
Have a great weekend everyone and I will be back next week to share my reading with you.
