It's been a while since I've shared any of my needlework, though sadly I seem to have even less time for stitching than for reading these days. While I have made a little progress on a couple of those projects I mentioned at the beginning of the year, I decided that I need a little change of pace. Winter is over and spring finally feels like it has arrived (my grass is turning green and there are buds on my bushes), so I'd like to work on a needlework project that is just as bright and cheery.
I went though the closest needlework bin at hand (I have a number of storage cases with charts and kits that are ready to go) and sifted through the various projects and have come up with some very pleasant possibilities, I think.
All are garden or nature related and several have bee motifs, which is one of my very favorite things to stitch.
And I even came across this in progress project that is crying out for me to finish. From top to bottom: Lizzie Kate's "Smell the Flowers" is the smallest design, which is a mere 2-1/2 inches around. Aren't the little ladybugs sweet?
The four Prairie Schooler charts are all "Prairie Fairies" that I have owned for easily more than a decade. It would be fun to stitch the whole group and then either finish them in frames to sit together on a wall or maybe as little cushions. I'm not sure, but I am sure I could come up with something fun. They are each a little over 3" x 3-1/2" or so.
I have most of the Prairie Schooler alphabet charts but the "G-H-I" chart has two that I want to definitely stitch--"G is for Garden" and "H is for Honey". I think I would opt to work on the honey chart first.
And lastly, the bottom project is actually a summer design, but considering how slow I am at stitching it wouldn't hurt to start working on it now. The chart is "Summer Samplers" and it is already underway. I'm sure if I put in a little time working on it, I would be inspired to keep going.
I'm not sure which to choose--maybe one small one and one larger design? I am hoping that this weekend will be more relaxing than last with more time to spend on enjoyable tasks rather than house projects. I hope to get back to my short story Sunday post and I still have a stack of books to tell you about next week. Until then, happy . . . stitching or reading or relaxing . . . however you decide to spend your weekend!
