Not to wish the month away as I am hoping still to finish several more books yet, but already anticipating July and the long weekend that is coming soon, I have started thinking about July's reading prompt. Next month's theme is "Independence day", which I can think of in a couple of ways. I had in mind, back when I came up with my list, to pick a book about Colonial America and maybe the Revolutionary War--as in the true Independence Day. But maybe instead I should pick a book about a strong, independent woman. I could be happy with either type of story. I even have a little list going of potential books. If you have a favorite (either theme) do share.
I am nearly finished with June's book, which I have been enjoying very much (though I must admit that the descriptions of the baseball games do slow me down no matter how engagingly she writes about them). May's book has turned into a carryover, though I am not worried since it fits in nicely with my Australian lit reading. I plan on getting back into it and reading in earnest this weekend. I am nearly finished, too, with one of those books (good thing as I have been eyeing a couple of other books and am looking forward to picking them up very soon). You know what I'll be reading this weekend now!

Friday always calls for a few bookish meanderings--an easy way to finish the work week and ease into the weekend. So here are a few things that caught my eye this week.
I saw Wonder Woman this weekend and enjoyed it immensely. So it was with some interest that I checked out this list of books to read after seeing the movie. I even have this one on my reading pile at the moment.
Now you already know what my summer reading is like. Nothing too terribly difficult or especially highbrow. I am always curious about what other readers (or writers as the case may be) have planned for their summer reading. Should I be disconcerted that my own reading is so easy compared to the reads described here? And these only minimally make me feel a little bit better.
Well, if those lists make me feel a little bit lazy (though, sorry, a happy reader nonetheless), I have to say this made me feel immensely better. I only sometimes feel like I have too many books. Apparently I don't quite understand what 'too many' books really means! Never say book hoarder as if it's a 'bad' thing, thank you very much!
I knew when I read (still need to write about it) Natalia Ginzburg's Family Lexicon that it was something special. It feels good to know I am not alone in my thinking.
Lots of reading to do this weekend. Hopefully I will finish a few books, maybe see a movie, and watch this week's episode of The Great British Baking Show. I think it might be the last season in this format (as it will no longer be a BBC production)? I am not fond of cooking (though I occasionally like to bake), but I have to say I am addicted to this show.
Happy weekend everyone!
