A long weekend looms closely on the horizon. I know I am very ready for it. I always plan on reading lots, but I somehow always manage to fritter the time away doing other things as well (or instead of), so I was thinking that a little mental planning was in order. I need to get myself into the mindset of spending time quietly with my books. Sometimes it's best to avoid home distractions (and the idea of 'earning' my pleasure reading by doing chores first!) and find somewhere away from the house to wile away a few hours. Most often this involves a warm beverage of some sort.
Being happily ensconced in nature is also a favorite. Only peace and quiet. Background noises that are acceptable include gurgling water or birds chirping (of frogs croaking). A nice bench away from crowds with just a book is about as good as you can get in my book.
If all else fails and I must be at home, I like to sit in my comfy rocking chair with books close at hand.
If I was going to do a reality check when it comes to my usual reading spots I would have to include a quiet corner at work on my break or the treadmill at the gym after work, but who wants to look at those places. I have four days off and while I will spend a few hours at the gym, I sincerely hope that more than a few hours will be spent in other reading-inspired corners!
Where is your favorite reading spot? And can we find you there this weekend?
