Knowing that next week will be a shorter than normal week makes this weekend all the nicer (especially since the sun seems to have gone on vacation). Sometimes the anticipation leading up to something nice is almost nicer than the event and with the weather as it is I feel even more inclined to hibernate indoors with a book. It's been a while since I've caught up with all the interesting things I have been marking for later perusal, so here they are to perhaps be investigated this weekend.
Dark does feel different in November! I need to catch up with these.
I am most intrigued by this book as I seem to find myself in just the same situation, so I ordered it and will start reading it this weekend. I have also requested the original book and it is waiting for me at the library, so I will compare and contrast and see how familiar (or not) it is, and who knows maybe I can glean some happy living suggestions from either.
I hope to check out some of these bookish TED Talks.
I didn't think I would like this movie, but I did, and now I am very much looking forward to the sequel. And hopefully I'll get to see it on the big screen and not on my laptop!
This author is coming to speak next spring at the university where I work. I have my ticket already. Now I had better read a book or two of his. Anyone a Jack Reacher fan? Which book should I pick up?
And speaking of P.D. James who I just read, serendipity with this list!
I love Tove Jansson and really do need to get back to reading her books (and about her, too, as I have a biography of her life). I wish I could see this exhibit.
I would totally do this (I love surprise book mail), but I can't afford it sadly. Because I am saving my money for this (I did it last year and now it has to be a new tradition!).
I like this list so much that I pulled out my copy of Louise O'Neill's Only Ever Yours to read. (Just barely started it).
More books to movies. Most are already out, but there is a preview of what is to come in 2018, too. This one sounds good, too, and I have many times picked up the book in consideration of reading/buying. Maybe I will now.
Okay you Agatha Christie fans, which Poirot do you prefer? I have not really seen many of the David Suchet TV programs, though I hear he is very popular. I have seen and am familiar with Peter Ustinov, so I tend to have him in mind when reading M. Poirot mysteries.
Well, since I am on an Agatha Christie roll, here's one more. I once saw a movie about Agatha's 11-day disappearance. Agatha is always popular, but lately more so than ever, don't you think?
I've only read one of Amazon's Best Mysteries and Thrillers of 2017, but it was a really good one!
I'm always interested in books where the destination is Israel/Palestine. Here are a few more to add to the list.
I already know Fall is the best reading time, but in case you still need a little convincing . . . here you go.
On that happy note, I wish you all a terrific weekend. I'll be spending mine in San Francisco. I hope you spend some pleasant hours somewhere equally contented.
