First a little good news. I dropped by the bookstore over the weekend with two coupons and a gift card in hand and came away with a few new goodies.
And then the not-so-good news--yet more snow for us (and . . . sigh . . . more to come). But, the up-side--I got a snow day out of it (which makes me dread even more getting up in the early hours and facing all this new snow in the dark and cold and walking to my bus stop).
Recently I shared a link that showed cool library cards. Here is mine! I have an old one. I was offered one of their newer designs, but then I would have a new account number and this one is burned into my memory. I don't even need to think about it--it just flows from my fingtips!
That handy little card entitles me to all of these and more!
I celebrated a birthday today (so nice to have that day off as a special treat). My friend Cath very kindly surprised me with a card and a copy of this by Terry Tempest Williams, which I have already started reading. It is a perfect book to dip into daily.
And a couple more cards from my friend John and my family!
So the cold, wintry weather has at least been tempered with some very nice treats and bookish distractions. What would I do without my books?
Since the weather seems to be stuck into this cold, snow, cold, snow, cold, snow, drizzle/freezing drizzle (this weekend's forecast), I have been thinking I need a good summery, warm weather tropical read. Something to make me feel the sun pounding on my face and the sweat dripping down my back. What should I read? Any favorite books that elicit not just sunny, but downright hot weather? I was thinking an Inspector Maigret where he travels to the south of France--surely there must be a mystery there? Or, something similar? Something nice to think about for the short term. Suggestions always welcome.
