Ahh, drowning in books. But in a good way. I am immersed in so many good reads at the moment, and then there are those on the horizon I can't wait to get to. But there is always room for more, of course. I have two books waiting for me at the library (if I can get there today before it closes) and I have a coupon for the bookstore for the weekend.
And then I am thinking about two books--as yet unknown titles (which is where you come in, please, fellow readers). I was talking to one of our student workers at the library and we were talking about technology and how it has changed society and how students, all the kids coming into the world now, in terms of learning and how they relate to their contemporaries and the greater world at large. The differences are so vast between when I was growing up and now as he has grown up and then there are all those children now who come into a digital world. I want to read about it--scientifically, but a book that is easily accessible for someone who is not a scientist. I am sure there must be loads of books like this--I will have to dig around a bit, but if you have a suggestion, please do share.
On a related note I have been ordering books for the popular reading section at the library. I have a colleague who reads a lot of science fiction and fantasy and she is my reliable source for title suggestions in this area. One of the books was about AI and robots, so I started thinking I wouldn't mind reading a novel that had a robot (android, but one that is sentient?)--not sure the term I am looking for--as a character. A while back I read a set of graphic novels called Ada + Alex which is close to what I have in mind. But the catch is that I want a female author, or at least a strong female protagonist. Again, suggestions welcome. Sorry, a bit hazy on these two, but I have an idea in mind but not a book to match.
My BOMC choice this month was Angie Kim's Miracle Creek, which I am now seeing all over the place, so apparently I made a really good selection! Here is an interview with her on NPR and the Washington Post called it a stunning debut!
I have a few links share, but as I have run out of time I might add to these over the weekend!
Did you see Amazon is giving away nine Kindle books in honor of World Book Day? You can download one or all of them. There are a few that have piqued my curiosity and I am always up for exploring translated works.
Book Riot has put together a list of must-read crime novels that are coming out between April and June, so more books to add to your library queue, right?
Have a great weekend everyone and feel free to leave a bookish comment back--what are you reading this weekend?
