Are you planning on reading Margaret Atwood's forthcoming novel The Testaments? I am very ambivalent when it comes to sequels, particularly sequels to books I have read and loved. In the case of The Handmaid's Tale I think it is the one book I have reread more than any other, though the last time has been years ago now. Should I revisit it now before September rolls around? To be honest I had no plans at all, but with the inclusion of The Testaments on the Booker Prize longlist I am contemplating it. It seems they are assuring readers it is prizeworthy, though they cannot reveal any details. I guess there are no ARC copies of it on offer?
While I decide I have brought home a copy of the graphic novel adaptation, and we'll see if it spurs me on to further reading. I have also not watched the TV adaptation either. As much as I love the book, it is harder for me to see a story like that visually as opposed to letting it play out in my mind. These days I seem to be reaching for books that will transport me away from the realities of the world.
